Welcome to the Industrial & Commercial Golf League
Business Golfing League in KwaZulu-Natal
If you love the beautiful game of golf, and you know of a colleague that love it about as much as you do, we want YOU to join the Industrial & Corporate Golf League of KwaZulu-Natal! The ICGL is the longest running business golf league in the KZN province, with over 40 teams currently part of our league. Our goal today is the same as it was back in 1964 – to bridge the gap between commercial and industrial business and to provide a platform for the two sectors to work together. We invite you to browse our ICGL website, and feel free to get in touch with us should you require further information about the league.

Our League History
Founded in 1964 by Jack Toop of AECI, Peter Brown from Kromienie Floors and Ron Hatting from TBA – the Industrial & Commercial Golf League began with a total of 12 companies including Shell, Mobil, Dorothy Bakery and IECI.
Originally, courses utilised were Umkomaas, Amanzimtoti, Unbogintwini, and Beachwood, but now include golf courses all over the KwaZulu-Natal province. Traditionally, the first and last game was played at Unbogintwini.
The ICGL Knockout Competition was introduced by Wilf Toy in 1981, and as such he donated the Wilf Toy Knockout Cup that is still in use to this day!
In 2009 the League launched their first official website with the purpose of keeping members up to date with all that is happening within the League. Today the website forms a crucial part of the running of the League as all information related to our course schedules, tee of times, results and player registration is managed through the website.
The original Better Ball Stable Fit league format was replaced by the ICGL’s own handicapping system in 1982, and this is still being used today. The first handicapper for the league was Lofty Lewin. From 1992 to 2017 John Watkins took over the role and handed the reigns to Ben Botes in 2018.
2018 Was a great year for the League in terms of moving forward with the use of technology. We launched our own custom written handicapping software that manages all aspects from player registrations, live score updates to the ICGL website and the handicaps of all players in line with the Leagues handicapping rules. The software was developed and proudly sponsored by Easy2Access Internet Marketing & Website Solutions.
