The rain abated for the last league game of the 2017/2018 season, and although it was a clear and hot, it was a bit soggy underfoot. John Ridl and his team did (and always do) a sterling job at Selborne and as always it’s a treat to play here bi-annually.
Hein Koen’s Illovo team achieved ‘back-to-back’ victories and grabbed 1st place at Selborne with 131 team points with the 1st team prize sponsored by Sappi. 2nd place went to Form-Scaff 2 on 129 points with Sappi Team GM on 3rd with 123 points. Illovo, who were already well ahead of the chasing pack on the log, cemented the title with this win.
Easy2Access, our website sponsor and sponsor of the Nearest the Pins, handed out bottles of red wine to Nevin Allen (4th), Derek Airey (6th), Dean Cullen (11th) and Mike Hayes (15th).
Sasfin, the sponsor of the 2-clubs, handed out 10 x sleeves of Callaway branded balls.
The SEW Eurodrive best individual prize went to Angus Nichol, who was fired up all week and played solid golf to grab 36 points off his 13-handicap. Gary Short, off a 19-handicap, was counted out of first place.
Andre thanked the above sponsors as well as CarMat (raffle/s), Easy2Acess (website) and MSC (scorecards) and he reminded all about our next game at Umdoni on 19th May (Corporate Day) as well as the Wild Coast game on 21st July.
